Professor Cojocaru has been awarded an NSERC Collaborative Research and Development grant

Professor Cojocaru has been awarded an NSERC Collaborative Research and Development grant with Sanofi Pasteur Canada to develop a small-population agent-based model of a day care facility for the purpose of testing and informing prevention policies against viral infections (enteric, influenza, etc.) that can be implemented in a child care setting.

Congratulations to Dan Ashlock for being awarded the CEPS Excellence in Undergraduate Research Supervision Award. Dan additionally makes significant contributions to graduate-level education, through teaching, supervision, and serving on the Bioinformatics Steering Committee.

Southwestern Ontario Graduate Mathematics and Statistics Conference on June 17

The 2019 Southwestern Ontario Graduate Mathematics and Statistics Conference is being held here at Guelph on June 17.

This is a free event and will feature presentations from students working in all areas of mathematics and statistics. This is a great opportunity to gain conference presentation experience, show off your research, and learn about what other grad students from across southern Ontario are up to!

Vardayani Ratti

Dr Vardayani Ratti appointed as Assistant Professor at California State University

We are pleased to announce that our former graduate student Vardayani Ratti (MSc 2011, PhD 2015) has accepted a Tenure Track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Cal State University, Chico. In her PhD thesis in our department, Vardayani developed and studied differential equation models for the disease and population dynamics of honeybee colonies that are infected with the Acute Bee Paralysis Virus, an infectious disease of the Western Honeybee that is transmitted by parasitic Varroa mites.

Dr. Matt Demers to give 2018 Last Lecture

The Department is proud to announce that Dr. Matt Demers has been selected to give the 2018 Faculty Last Lecture.

The Last Lecture offers graduating students an opportunity to come together and reflect upon their experiences at Guelph, bring closure to the time that they have spent here, and celebrate their many accomplishments both inside and outside of the classroom. The event features an address by a graduating student who has competed for the honour, a distinguished alumnus, and a faculty member will also offer words of inspiration to the Class of 2018.

Professor Gerarda Darlington winner of 2018 John Bell Award

The Department is thrilled to announce that Professor Gerarda Darlington will be awarded the 2018 John Bell Award.

The John Bell Award recognizes outstanding contributions to university education at the University of Guelph. The award is made in honour of Professor John Bell who served the University with distinction from 1972 to 1987.
