Tucker Scholarship for Women in Mathematical Science

Established by Emma Tucker, B.Sc. Statistics, 1996, to encourage women in the study of Mathematics and Statistics. Selection will be based on high cumulative average and contributions made to student life within the department. Female students registered full-time in a major offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics who have completed a minimum 9.0 credits and demonstrated contributions to student life within the department.

Gordon Ashton Scholarship

Established in memory of Prof. Gordon Ashton, member of the Department of Physics and Mathematics (1956-1966) and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics (1966-1986). All statistics majors who have completed a minimum of 10.00 credits with a cumulative average of at least 70% and who have demonstrated financial need.

Leibniz/Newton Scholarship

Established in honour of two founding fathers of calculus. Selection will be based on highest combined average over 80% in MATH*1200 and MATH*1210 or equivalent. Students registered in a major offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics who have completed a minimum of 4.0 but no more than 8.5 credits with a cumulative average of at least 80% and completed MATH*1200 and MATH*1210, or equivalent.

T.D. Newton Memorial Scholarship

Established in honour of Professor Ted Newton, the founding chair of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Selection is based on the highest average in a minimum of 4.0 credits. Students registered in a major offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics who have completed a minimum of 4.0 credits but no more than 8.5 credits.

Second Year Mathematics and Statistics Scholarship

Selection will be made on the highest combined grades in MATH 1200 and MATH 1210. Full time BA or BSc students registered in a major offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics who have completed between 5.0 and 9.75 credits with a minimum cumulative average of 75% and have completed MATH 1200 and MATH 1210 or equivalents with grades over 80%.

Wally Fraser Mathematical Science Scholarship

This scholarship is named in honour of Professor Wally Fraser, a founding member of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. The recipient will be selected on the basis of a highest average on a minimum of 4.0 credits from semesters 3 and 4. Students who are registered in a major offered by the Department of Mathematics & Statistics who have completed a minimum of 9.0 credits, but no more than 14.5 credits.

R.A. Fisher Statistics Scholarship

Established to honour one of the founding fathers of statistics. Selection will be based on the highest combined average over 80% in STAT*2040 and STAT*2050 or equivalent. Students registered in a major offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics who have completed a minimum of 9.0 credits, but no more than 14.5 credits and have completed STAT*2040 and STAT*2050 or equivalent.

R.C. Moffatt Memorial Scholarship in Mathematical Science

This scholarship was established by the Estate of Professor R.C. Moffatt. Selection will be based on highest cumulative average. Students who have completed a minimum of 9.0 credits, but no more than 19.5 credits and are registered in a major offered by the Department of Mathematics & Statistics and achieved an 80% cumulative average.

Year 3 Mathematical Science Scholarship

The recipients will be selected on the basis of a highest average over 80% in a minimum of 4.0 credits from semesters 5 and 6. Students registered in a major offered by the Department of Mathematics & Statistics who have completed a minimum of 14.0 credits, but no more than 19. 5 credits and have a minimum 80% cumulative average.

Mathematical Science Graduation Prize

Selection is based on highest cumulative average. Students who are graduating in June, or who have graduated in the previous two convocations with a major offered by the Department of Mathematics & Statistics and achieved a minimum 80% cumulative average.
