Professor Hermann Eberl, together with professors Mark Lewis (Univ. Alberta) and Frithjof Lutscher (Univ. Ottawa) will be spearheading a Thematic Semester on Emerging Challenges in Mathematical Biology at the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences in Toronto, from January to June 2018.   The Fields Thematic Semester is international in scope, and will bring dozens of Long Term Visitors and Postdoctoral Fellows to Southern Ontario to engage in collaborative research on current topics in Biomathematics. Further initiatives include week long topical workshops, graduate courses taught by international leaders, two research seminar series, and a Distinguished Lecturer Series. These events will be open to our graduate students and provide them with a unique research training opportunity.

Details about the Thematic Semester will be available at the Field Institute website.

Guelph is an Affiliate University of the Fields Institute. The Fields Institute is one of the major research centers for mathematical sciences in North America. It is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation, the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the US National Science Foundation (NSF).
